The motion detector built into the wall plat replacement provides a 180 degree range of detection, which equates to a maximum area of coverage of approximately 2100 square feet. The sensing distance maximum in front of the sensor is about 40 feet, and at each side is about 30 feet. A "small-motion" zone detects relatively small body movements and allows the lights to stay ON even though a person may not be moving or walking around the room. The remainder of the field of view exhibits a lesser degree of sensitivity and requires larger movements in order for the light to trigger. The movement detectors are adjustable, in that the integral sliding blinders on each side of the lens may be adjusted to restrict the 180 degree field of view down to 32 degrees. This handy adjustment ability allows you to prevent unwanted detection in areas that you want to avoid (such as hallways, etc.). Also, the light includes an adjustment to reduce the coverage range, causing the unit to ignore motion at the far end of its range and avoid switching lights on when you do not want to. The range can be adjusted from 100% to 36% of the total area covered by the motion detector light.
Delayed timer
Four delayed off-time settings are available: 30-seconds (for walking test purposes only), 10 minutes, 20 minutes, and 30 minutes.
Background Light Setting
To maximize your energy and cost savings, the override feature allows you to prevent the wall detector from switching lights on when there is ample natural sunlight in the area of the motion sensor, regardless of whether motion is sensed by the detector. NOTE: Make this adjustment when the ambient light in the area of the motion sensor is at the level where no artificial light is needed.
Adjustable Ambient Light Override range includes light from approximately 2 foot-candles (2 lux) to about 500+ foot-candles (500+ lux.).
